NLB Spielbericht von 20.11.2021

GC vs Vevey LNB Basketball at its best

Led by four players in double figures and 52.6% shooting from the field, GC Basketball recovered from an early deficit in the final minutes of the first half due to unforced errors to tie the game just before the break. GC Basketball increased its lead point by point in the second half. The Wildcats led by as much as 19 points, three minutes before the end. They had to stay focused until the last second because Vevey, leader of the LNB before this game (Morges Basket is now the new leader) tried to come back with 3 point shoots until the end. GC Basketball got an important 77-63 victory against Vevey on Saturday night at Im Birch.

Leading from the first moments of the game, 5-0 with a very efficient Ismael Seck, GC Basketball coached by coach Luka Stiplosek had to face a solid Vevey Basket behind Jonathan Dubas, who as usual is an example of team spirit and leadership. The player of the Swiss national team was during the 40' as solid in defence as he was inspired in attack finishing the game with a double-double. Vevey held its ground and forced some GC Basketball mistakes with a good defense and took a 7 point lead after 6 minutes on 9-16 after two free throws made by Jonathan Dubas.

The answer came from GC Basketball captain Mario Gull, who found his way through Vevey's defense and Nicolas Hulliger with an astonishing three-point shoot.

Until the end of the first half it was a game full of ups and downs, with Simon Iyamu Perisanidis giving a two-point lead 35-33 after a spectacular dunk. Vevey tied the game 35-35 with a no less spectacular alley oop by Eliott Kübler, who was also a big threat for GC with 3 three-point shots made.

GC Basketball found an inspired Fahri Breca, who for his first game in the white and blue jersey contributed significantly to secure the victory.

Coach Stiplosek had a ready response to every situation, thanks to the pre-game work of his assistant Nemanja Kovacevic. The collaboration with Balgrist and the physiotherapists also helped the players to quickly recover physically and mentally from the buzzer lost against Morges. Team Manager Toni Tsianakas with LiveStats scout Soenmez Öztürk provided very important information to the coaching staff. The fans are coming back and the drums are out again so we can only thank the GC Basketball community for being there again like before the Pandemic to support the GC Wildcats LIVE at Im Birch!
